Not a tour.
Not a luxury retreat.
Something different.

On the way up El Alto del Perdón (Hill of Forgiveness), most walkers have a perspective shift: the things we carry are heavier than we realized.

That’s where mindfulness practice begins. And along with that awareness of what’s actually present comes the power to create something new.

You may be running on empty, navigating a difficult transition, or simply carrying a level of stress that no amount of rest seems to touch.

The Hill of Forgiveness offers eight days of walking the Camino Francés through Navarra and into La Rioja, practicing the evidence-based tools of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). The landscape is the classroom. Each day, the trail teaches you to notice what’s happening in your body and mind, to face challenge with steadiness, and to respond to your life rather than simply reacting to it.

It is a structured, expert-led experience designed to change your relationship with stress — while El Camino offers what it has been giving to pilgrims for a thousand years.

These are skills you keep. You will arrive in Logroño not just rested, but restored. And with the tools to meet what comes after with more clarity and resilience.

Is this you?

This retreat is designed for people who are:

  • Running on empty after years of high performance — professionally, personally, or both

  • Carrying chronic stress that hasn't responded to the usual fixes

  • At a crossroads — a career transition, a relationship challenge, a life that no longer fits

  • Curious about El Camino but wanting the experience held by someone who knows the path and the practice

  • Ready for something real — not a weekend workshop, not an app, not another self-help book

You do not need to be a meditator. You do not need to be a hiker. You need only to be willing to walk, to slow down, and to listen.

Every day has its own rhythm, and its own invitation.

A DAY ON THE HILL OF FORGIVENESS

Morning begins with movement and a grounding meditation as the route opens ahead. The landscapes shifts daily, through ancient stone villages and Roman roads, open vistas of vineyards and fields.

The walking itself becomes the practice: a daily opportunity to develop awareness of body sensations, to notice the mind at work, and to practice meeting each moment as it actually is.

Evenings are shared — a meal together, a group reflection circle built around the day's MBSR theme, time for the day to settle. Then space: for journaling, for wandering, for the particular quiet that only comes after you've been moving through something all day.

A schedule outlining a morning routine, including breakfast and departure, grounding walking meditation into sunrise, morning mindfulness practice on the trail, cafe con leche and midday pause, arriving at day's destination, mindful eating as a shared group meal, evening reflection circle, and personal journaling and rest.

What changes on this walk

By the end of eight days, most participants find they have built something real: a working foundation in mindfulness, and the direct experience of how it changes their relationship to stress and difficulty.

Specifically, participants leave The Hill of Forgiveness with:

A NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH STRESS

Not the absence of stress, but a new capacity to observe it without being at its mercy. Respond rather than react.

PRACTICAL MBSR TOOLS

Evidence-based practices that integrate into daily life and hold long after the trip ends — not just on retreat.

COMMUNITY

People who understand what you were carrying and offered support as you began to put it down. You are not alone in this.

A BODY THAT HAS BEEN MOVED

100km across northern Spain on your own feet. What this does to the nervous system, no office or screen can replicate.

CLARITY

Eight days of deliberate presence, away from the noise that usually drowns it out. The answers were always there.

A CLEAR NEXT STEP

The option to continue with MBSR, coaching, or workshops through Creating a New Now to keep the shift alive.
